Welcome to Best Boots On, your central location for purchase and reviews on footwear, hiking necessities, hiking safety tips, and how to choose the right hiking location.
After living and working in the lower mainland of British Columbia for fifteen years, where I played a lot of golf in my spare time and not so much hiking because of the proximity of such things, I decided to move back to the North Okanagan.
Moving back had it’s challenges financially, so golfing became a sometimes thing, but hiking definitely became an all the time thing. Mostly because staying healthy and active is very important to me, and there is an abundance of hiking trails less than an hour away.
Whether it’s the salmon trail in my neighborhood, or trekking the alpine trails of the Purcell Mountains, all day or 20 minutes, being prepared was always something I took into consideration. Along with being healthy and active, safety is something that I hold in high regard.
As an avid hiker I have grown to adopt the boy scout motto, “always be prepared”, it’s worked for most everyday life scenarios, including work environments, driving, and traveling.
WHY I WANT TO HELP PEOPLE
When it comes to hiking being unprepared can definitely be inconvenient or dangerous. Giving people the right tools and resources to mitigate those problems is what I can do.
Too often major problems can be avoided, and one of the first things out of our mouths when it happens is “if only”. If only I had warm clothes, if only I had checked the weather, or, if only I had better boots. It’s often simple things that prevent major issues.
